THE ARCHITECTURE AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT CENTRE FOR THE NORTH EAST
Northern Architecture (The Northern Architecture Centre Ltd) was set up in 1995 as a not-for-profit organisation and later a charity. It was the architecture centre for the North East of England until it closed in 2016. Core to its objectives was the belief that well designed places and buildings make a fundamental difference to peoples' individual and social lives; that a good place will make us happier and healthier people.
Through creative education for young and old, general public and professionals and with the great support of many partners and passionate individuals, Northern Architecture worked across the region to make people aware of, aspire to and choose to apply good design - to create better places in our region.
In its last five years of operating, Northern Architecture's
programmes with school children, the general public, communities and built environment professionals reached nearly 33,000 people through workshops, events, and exhibitions.
